High Five Entertainment is proud to presents James Last in his second PBS special, A World of Music will premiere on PBS as part of the August 2002 pledge drive (check local listings). Produced in front of a live sold out audience in Germany, A World of Music is the first English language show for James Last on PBS. He and his orchestra deliver an unforgettable, live performance, featuring some of the greatest hits of all time. Much like his audience, Last is incredibly enthusiastic on stage, clearly displaying his passion for his music as he delivers a special show to an adoring crowd dancing in the aisles.
This international phenomenon is the most successful bandleader in the world. His award-winning music is popular in over 150 countries and he has sold over 70 million CDs. Last has enchanted his fans with his music for over thirty years, yet he has achieved cult status among the 20-35 year old demographic. He is best known for his unique arrangements featuring a 26-piece band with strings, brass and catchy beats. James Last has also been a musical influence for some of the hottest sounds of today, including hip-hop and techno. In addition to writing "Fool," which was performed by Elvis Presley on his first RCA recording, Last has also worked with other musical stars including Celine Dion, and has been sampled on Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' top selling album The Saga Continues.
James Last has become one of the top fundraisers for public television. Few music specials can boast such enormous success with PBS audiences. Produced by High Five Entertainment, the television specials, A World of Music and Gentleman of Music were produced by Martin Fischer and directed by Stanley Dorfman.
